I picked this one up after reading the review in CA. It scored a 91. Here in Ohio, I paid less than $5 for it, so I picked up quite a few. I am so glad I did. I don't think I am very good at reviewing cigars. Sometimes I just don't get the flavors that others seem to pick up, but with this cigar, I was VERY pleased. Started out with strong oak and leather notes, but the more you puff, the better it gets. I am probably a little biased with the price point, but why not? For less than $5 I had a great cigar. This cigar was down to the nub. Literally. If I had a pair of roach clips, I would have broken them out. I'm not saying that this is the best cigar I have had, but for the price, I was bowled over. This is one that I will be buying a couple of boxes of, and letting them age in the humi. I wore this one down so far, the college kids next door probably thought I was smoking a joint! Haha! If you see this one the next time you are at your local smoke shop, make sure to pick one up. I don't think you will be disappointed.

B.S. The Hoyo de Tradicion is a horrible cigar. Don't waste your time even trying them. CA are a bunch of idiots for rating that cigar a 91. This cigar is bland, papery and leaves your mouth feeling dry and awful. I'd rather smoke used cigarette filters then ever put one of these in my mouth again.

Step away from them....save yourself....nothing to see here...move along... no need to read this thread any further.

Go away!

OK, now that they are gone, Mr. Fabulous, what the hell are you thinking? Don't be blabbing about the best kept secret in the cigar industry. Next time you find an unbelievable deal, just keep it to yourself. Nah, just kidding. You are right on the money about this smoke.

I'll be honest, a couple friends and I have already done a box split on our second box of these recently. All of them are good, but the corona is my favorite size in these. They are just packed full of nutty goodness. A real quality smoke and a ridiculous value.

I saw that rating in CA and was petrified. I truly hope they don't go high up in the annual top 25 list, I'm afraid we may have the next Casa Magna on our hands if they do. Guess I'll stock up now.

BTW, the only thing true in that top section was "CA are a bunch of idiots". Altough, I can't explain how they got the rating right on the HDT. Isn't there a saying about a bling hog......

I just bought a box of these....Love them. I just hope they stay priced where they are at. This one has become my go to cigar based on price and taste.

BluesMan, I have to tell you that as I read your response, my heart sank and I got a little nervous! I thought to myself, " Well here it is, someone finally found out that you probably don't know what you are talking about enough to be posting reviews!" As I scrolled down I was very relieved to find that you agreed with me! I had a good laugh over that. Thanks!

Gotta give it to you Mr. Fab...I have smoked 2 of these now and they are an awesome buy..hell...I just finished my 2nd one after a steak dinner and sat in the swing smokin it..I was so into the cigar I forgot I had a drink sittin there!...ditto on the roach clip comment too...I typically smoke a full bodied to strong cigar, Oliva G Maduro, The Edge, and Camacho Triple Mad are 3 of my favs, this smoke is now at the top of that list for the price!...very very nice smoke...excellent recommendation! Just enough 'bite' to satsify my strong smoke needs but also very creamy and 'smokelicious' :D I may be gettin a box of these...no I AM gettin a box of these!!

Better than a roach clip:

http://www.stogienubber.com/home.html

A friend at Burns gave me one of these last week, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Actually, if I had thought about it, I would have used it on the Avo 787 I just finished...damn, that was a fine stogie! Much better than I really expected.

RE: Hoyo de Tradicion: excellent smoke and a great price, too. The HdM Excalibur was my favorite cigar when I was a newbie and I'm happy to be smoking something from that family again with the Tradicion and the HdM Excalibur Legend. It took a while but they have caught back up to where I am today as a cigar smoker. Anyone who maintains that everything from General tastes the same hasn't given these fine sticks a fair shake.

UPtown's has them on the island towards the back of the humidor, right hand side as you enter. Second shelf down.

Not that I've ever bought them there or anything.

I found them a little while after posting on here. Had a cancellation in my day while I was up in Cool Springs and picked a few up at Stogies. I have since picked a few more up at Uptowns.

I normally drink a good Bourbon with my smokes, but I sat down with a cup of Cafe du Monde Coffee and DAMN! It enhanced the flavor of both products to about the most enjoyable smoke I've had in a VERY long time. I never buy boxes, I prefer to buy an assortment of 5-10 at a time, but this sucker is just great plain and simple. It knocked Camacho Triple Maduro off of the top spot on my list, without even considering the fact I can get about 3 for the price of 1.

So glad you agree. I just had another one and it was perfect. A little Jameson's, and the Hoyo corona. Hard to beat. Just for the record, I enjoyed that one tonight because I took my oldest boy to the range today, and he was absolutely killing it. Had a rough day yesterday, but he got it together today. Timing and grip was perfect. He is 11, and I must say that making the high school team is pretty much a given at this point. I couldn't be more proud. Drink up for Arnie's B-Day!
